I have a fantastic bruise going from my armpit to my elbow on the underside of my arm. I don't have a bruise on my shoulder at all. I have no marks, grazes or bruises on either hand.
The photo is not very good because I am doing it left-handed and because the upper part of my arm will not separate itself from my body: (and it hurt to move my forearm too):
I must have fallen with my right arm outstretched and upwards in a type of Roman salute. I've landed on the underside of the upper arm and when it came into contact with cold hard tiles it was forced further upwards and backwards and I felt the bone doing something it was not designed to do.
I reaslised today that I can not shave under either arm: the right one because I can't move the arm out far enough from the body to get a razor in; the left because I can't use my right arm… I did make a rough pass under the left arm with the razor in my left hand … I was very cautious as I imagined a whole new injury doing that.
I think that's definitive then – I can not go back to work until I can shave under my arms. Oh, and until I figure out how to put lipstick on neatly using my left hand!
OH MY WORD!!!!!! That looks so painful. Perhaps you will have to learn to hold the lipstick tube between your toes (giggle). If you do master that skill, please post a video. We must see it. Seriously, I hope you heal quickly. (soft hugs)
Oh my goodness! you certainly know how to do things right when it comes to bruises! Are you sure you're not a roller derby girl in your spare time? π
That looks really really painful.
don't worry about shaving, maybe we can have a contest and you can take guesses from your neighborhood how long your hair will be when you are finally able to shave.
[cβest top]
Yes it is painful but a little less each day. LOL the lipstick between my toes – I don't think I'm flexible enough to get my toes near my mouth! π
LOL – I would probably kill myself doing roller derby – I obviously have problems just on my feet! LOL – interesting contest idea.
>.< OUCH!!!!! Hope that goes away soon. :S
Oh well that makes sense. I just thought that if I had hit my shoulder I would have a bruise on the top of it. I like the idea of being a pretty bird with colourful wings LOL.
Like a pretty bird your wings are colorful ! …
Awww, I like that. what a nice way to see it. π
I was going to say something smarmy about how I noticed you couldn't shave under your arms … and then something along the lines of how I guess your blond hair is real … but I won't.I was also thinking about making a comment on the Hitler salute or you flashing gang signs to your crack selling neighbors … but I won't do that either.Instead, I'll say I hope you get to feeling better soon. It does look painful.
I don't think that your shouder hit the ground, but rather your hand. The shock pushed your humerus and crushed it in its slot in your shoulder. You have been lucky not to break your wrist and your elbow, in the same time ! … What a strong girl you are ! … :))) Have a nice day and many loves.
So do I – but at least it's just about all covered by the sling until it does fade away.
LOL – you know how to cheer a girl up…. And I thought I was being PC about the salute!
You were … I wasn't …
It looks so painful…. I hope it heals quickly.
I would think underarm hair is the least of your worries for some time. How are you even going to get dressed if you cannot bear to raise your arm. Get well quick.
owwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwieyou poor thing
Sit in a warm tub everyday for about 15-20 mins… helps clear the bruising a lot faster.
*shock* Goodness, we really oughtn't to let you out alone!Take lots of Arnica and I hope that you get better soonxx
I know you are in pain, but you are cracking me up. At least you can make it funny! I hope it heals soon. Once I tore my shoulder ligament and had to drive a stick one handed. I ended up getting my son to shift gears (he was around 7). To this day, he can drive a stick, no problem, and he bought himself a ratty old Subaru with a stick. You could move to a country where no one shaves or wears mascara, LOL. I would be annoyed if I could not do it, so I feel bad for you. And all the other things you are having to suffer from not being able to do. Like the pulling up the covers. But I commend you on being independent and being able to figure most things out. Many people would just sit there and be helpless.
Did you see The Breakfast Club film (from the 80s)? One of the female stars put her lipstick on with her cleavage. You could do that…
I feel pain just looking at the pictures Emjay.Looks like the manservant will need to learn some new skills to help you out. π
Ouch, those can really be awful. May you heal fast, my dear.
It's amazing when one tries to switch hands, how hard it can be. I'm ambidexterous with my toothbrush, otherwise I'm almost purely right handed.
I just tried the left handed mouse thing. Not happening! I think I'd have to reconstruct a mirror image of my entire desk landscape, for one thing. Not to mention that my brain just won't do it! Get well!
Best wishes are being sent your way. Get a little better each day and soon you will be a good as new AND it will be SPRING! (that can't come soon enough!)
Take Care! I miss going to your blog each day and seeing your fabulous pictues and stories.
Denise π
Nice!!! I don't know about your bruises but my experience is that when they're that dark it's almost done. So hopefully there will be a possibility of shaving soon. In the meantime a t-shirt and no one will see the unshaved π
Thank you RM – π
LOL – it is slow and tedious to change bra and top and involves a lot of careful wriggling. I've found cardigans to be the indispensable item – they are stretchy; they can be layered -(one worn properly & one on left arm but draped over the right arm). I'm getting pretty good at doing the buttons left handed.
Thanks for the advice Ninja – I will try that once the manservant gets home – I'm a bit reluctant to give myself extra hurdles while there's no-one here to grab me if I slip. (it's like being a kid all over again – I can't be trusted to get in and out of a bath-tub without supervision).
Arnica – yes – I have some of that left from when you recommended it for my foot "issue"! Now, where did I put it…….
Holy crapcakes! Looks like someone beat you with a bamboo pole for an hour in the same spot.
Geez, Emjay. I must have spent a couple of minutes trying to figure out how that could be your arm! It looks horrid!
LOL – I'm not sure I'm dexterous enough to put lipstick on using my cleavage. The manservant offered to video the attempt though … π Yes, occasionally I've done things with my left hand and because it feels weird I've thought I really should practise and build up that side …. never happens! π
Looks like the manservant will need to learn some new skills to help you out. LOL – GOF – the manservant has to get his arse home first……… (at this stage it is going to be Tuesday DC time).
Yeah – I wish I had done some practising with my left hand just in case something like this happened. I wonder if I will try harder to keep up the using of the left hand once the sling comes off…..
Isn't it bizarre how weird it feels to have the mouse in the left hand. When I first tried it I couldn't even get the cursor on the screen! LOL.
Hi Denise – thank you so much for the good wishes – I'm a little behind in replying but I am improving every day. I'm even going back to work tomorrow – should be interesting with only one working hand! LOL.
It's got some pretty yellow edges now …. LOL.
LOL – that's a clever tee shirt! Yes I need one of those.
Looks like someone beat you with a bamboo pole for an hour in the same spot. LOL – I might've been able to charge someone if that had happened to me.
Yeah – it was pretty yucky and swollen too. Now it has "lovely" yellow edges! :-)Thank you I am getting better each day – going back to work tomorrow……. we'll see how that goes. π
