  1. OK, here is my 2 cents worth. Nice use of light behind and to the back of the bird, the light highlights the feathers on the neck, nice effect. Great background as it helps the bird pop to the forfront of the photo and the silky texture of the water is in contracts to the rough look of the birds head and neck.
    To change the look of the photo you could crop so that the eye of the bird (which is your subject in the photo) follows the rule of thirds. Not sure I talked about that yet. But the ROT is to divide your frame into thirds from the top to the bottom and from one side to the other. Where these lines interest are where you should place your subject. Try it and see how it looks.
    I'm taking off my teacher hat now and going back to reading emails. 🙂
