Luray Caverns

`
We went to Luray Caverns today……

Luckily we were in an Avis rental car:

In the Caverns there is a chamber known as the Lake of Dreams where the stalactite formations from above create a reflection in a shallow puddle (lake) of water.

The first photo I took with the flash on:

Then I turned the flash off for a more magical effect –

Near the end of the tour, the guide turned the lights off to show us how dark "dark" really is and would you believe three people in our group started taking photos, TOTALLY defeating the purpose!!!!

  1. Thankyou. The only problem with no flash was camera shake so a lot of those photos were pretty blurry. They will be fine to manipulate into a pattern for my cards though.

  2. Oh that's funny! Did you want to just leave her there? πŸ™‚ It's a bit hard once you are down there to leave though.

There was a little boy on our tour who just wanted to touch everything even climbing under the rail at one stage to hammer really hard on a piece of stali that might have been there millions of years.

  3. the tour group we were with were NONE too happy about our yelping baby. neither my husband or i wanted to miss the cavern so we just let her "tough it out". of course that was back in the days where it was "ok" to discipline your kids. and NOT give them whatever they wanted.

  4. It's on one of my lists too, as somewhere I'd like to live. I just love the dramatic coastline and countryside. I used to know some people down there (20+ years ago) with a dairy farm and spent some lovely hols there.
If you ever get to go, give me a shout and I'll join you… great surfing!
